Fear – Poetry Saturday

by Brian Satterlee

Once again I’m late to work
Oh my gosh I’m such a dork
Gotta check the door again, was the alarm set?
Checking both ways at a green light
That must be a curious sight
But I’ve got to take care, no I should not dare

Cause fear has got me paralyzed
Fear, can you see it in my eyes
I could be so much more, if I could just let it go
Fear has got me stuck in place
Fear is written all over my face
I’m not a daring guy, no matter how hard I try
Fear keeps me from being all I can be

I thought about being a business man
I even wrote up a marketing plan
But I couldn’t go for it, and so at work I sit
A business seems like an unbelievable mess
I worry so much about the IRS
The plan’s collecting dust, the idea’s a bust

Cause fear has got me paralyzed
Fear, can you see it in my eyes
I could be so much more, if I could just let it go
Fear has got me stuck in place
Fear is written all over my face
I’m not a daring guy, no matter how hard I try
Fear keeps me from being all I can be
